Made in China - traditional industrial electronic striving

2025-12-16

China's economy maintained stable momentum in November, with new quality productive forces advancing solidly in the traditional electronics industry, an official from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) stated on Monday while releasing key economic data.
Despite external pressures and industry transformation challenges, the traditional electronics sector has demonstrated strong resilience, supported by robust macroeconomic policies and emerging growth drivers, laying a solid foundation for achieving full-year development goals.

Despite external pressures and industry transformation challenges, the traditional electronics sector has demonstrated strong resilience, supported by robust macroeconomic policies and emerging growth drivers, laying a solid foundation for achieving full-year development goals.

Policy Empowers Transformation, Innovation Leads Upgrading

Fu Linghui, spokesperson for the NBS, said that the robust performance of the traditional electronics industry stems from the implementation of supportive policies for advanced manufacturing and the deep integration of technological innovation with industrial upgrading. At present, the digitalization rate of key processes of leading enterprises in the sector has exceeded 80%, accelerating the shift towards high-end, intelligent and green development.
Li Chang'an, a professor at the Academy of China Open Economy Studies at the University of International Business and Economics, emphasized that the rapid growth of investment in electronic component R&D and intelligent manufacturing reflects the trend of optimization of China's industrial structure. Policies such as the Implementation Plan for Digital Transformation of the Electronic Information Manufacturing Industry have effectively promoted traditional enterprises to break through core technology bottlenecks.
On the consumption front, digital consumption has become a new growth engine for the electronics industry. In November, sales of smart home devices increased by 25.4% year-on-year, and professional electronic testing equipment rose by 18.7% as policies to boost consumption took effect.

Future Outlook: Opportunities and Challenges Coexist

Fu Linghui pointed out that expanding market demand and growing new drivers have created favorable conditions for achieving full-year targets, but uncertainties in the international environment and pressures from domestic structural adjustments still require sustained efforts.
"China's traditional electronics industry has a solid foundation, complete industrial chain and abundant innovation potential," Fu said. With deepening reform and opening-up and accelerated modernization of the industrial system, the sector's long-term positive development trend remains unchanged.
The recently concluded Central Economic Work Conference clarified work priorities for 2026, emphasizing innovation-driven development and building a complete chain encompassing talent, platforms, enterprises and industries. This will provide strong policy support for traditional electronic enterprises to accelerate transformation and enhance global competitiveness.
